OVERVIEW
Each year the Brisbane Institute at Morehouse College has the responsibility of selecting twenty of the most qualified students from the Atlanta University Center and Georgia State University to serve the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus as interns. Through this relationship, both students and legislators benefit greatly. The students gain invaluable practical experience to supplement their classroom educations, one on one mentoring relationship with an elected official and the opportunity to be a part of the legislative process. In return, legislators receive a skillful professional service and the much needed assistance with many of their official duties and responsibilities. We at the Brisbane Institute applaud the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus on such an important contribution to our communities, our future leaders and the State of Georgia.

Words From Past Interns
“The opportunity to work as an intern with the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus has been an invaluable experience for me; both mentally and professionally. As an intern I have been given insight into the legislative process and now have a renewed respect for America's policy makers, who work hard everyday to make the laws that affect our everyday lives.”

“The GLBC internship has been a great experience as I have had the opportunity to help in servicing the State of Georgia by assisting the senators to whom I was assigned. During the session I gained greater insight to the legislative process as I assisted in preparation for committees, clerical work, and other errands that aided in the daily progress of the Senators. Having the opportunity to serve as an intern for the session has allowed me to gain a greater respect for the Georgia Congress members and their staff in their daily involvement with constituents, committees, and the many lobbyists that contact and visit the Capital. No day is ever the same, as many of the constituents that I’ve had the chance to speak with are very passionate about their purpose for contacting the office to speak with the senators or to leave their opinions on certain legislation.”
