The bags for kids program is a program to be implemented statewide in Georgia to provide school age students from under privileged communities with a book bag for school. With the economy taking a toll on many families something as simple as a book may be a tremendous expense for families.
The program launched in Savannah, Georgia during the State of Black Georgia Legislative Seminar. The event was held September 12, 2009 on the campus of Savannah State University. A special thanks goes to AT&T and JC Penney, our corporate sponsors who helped to provide over 100 book bags to support this educational initiative.
The program had such a great success and turnout with this program in Savannah that we now seek to expand the Bags for Kids to reach more students across Georgia and to provide students not only with book bags but also school supplies. We will again like to partner with other sponsors in addition to AT&T and JC Penney for future events.
